Grants & Fellowships

The Tattva Heritage Foundation provides targeted financial support to individuals and institutions engaged in the study, preservation, and transmission of India’s religious and cultural traditions. Its grants support traditional learning, scholarly research, performing arts, textual and archival work, and heritage conservation, with a focus on carefully selected initiatives where well-placed support can enable sustained and meaningful work. Selected grants include:

Education, Scholarship & Research

  1. Annual Grants to Sanskrit Students (Tenali Examination)
    The Foundation provided financial support to a group of 25 Sanskrit students studying the śāstras at traditional gurukulas across India. The grants assist students preparing for the Tenali examinations and help sustain long-term training in disciplines such as Vyākaraṇa, Tarka, Mīmāṃsā, and Vedānta.
  2. Grant for Traditional Vedic Education (Raghavapuram Sabhayogyam)
    Financial support extended to an institution engaged in the teaching and transmission of Vedic learning through residential pāṭhaśālās. The grant assists in sustaining oral traditions of Vedic recitation and regular instruction.
  3. Shyama Devi Mundra Research Grant
    A small, discretionary research grant supporting field-based work on pre-modern temples and related aspects of religious and cultural heritage. The grant has been used towards documentation of temple architecture, ritual contexts, and conservation conditions.
  4. Grant for Research on Indian Traditions of Political Thought
    Support provided for an academic research project examining classical Indian political thought through close engagement with primary texts. The grant assists sustained scholarly work and research writing for a year.

Performing Arts & Embodied Traditions

  1. Grant to Srjan (Odissi Dance)
    Limited financial support extended to Srjan, a well-established Odissi dance institution, towards its ongoing training and pedagogical activities within the guru–śiṣya paramparā.
  2. Grant to Kalarigram for the Annual Tantrotsav Festival
    Support provided towards the organisation of the annual Tantrotsav festival at Kalarigram. The grant assists performances, teaching activities, and ritual practices associated with sacred performing arts.
  3. Grant to Kalarigram for Institutional Activities
    Additional support extended to Kalarigram towards its regular activities related to Kalaripayattu, ritual practice, and associated cultural programmes.
  4. Grant for Kalaripayattu Research
    Support provided for research and documentation related to the Kalaripayattu tradition. The work includes recording practitioner lineages, training practices, and associated ritual and oral materials.

Textual, Archival & Heritage Work

  1. Grant to the R. C. Dhere Library focussing on Folk Traditions
    Financial support provided towards the establishment and digitisation of the R. C. Dhere Library, Pune. The grant assists preservation of books, manuscripts, and research materials related to folk traditions and regional religious cultures.
  2. Grant for Video Documentation of Early Kannada Jain Literary Traditions
    Support provided for the production of a video lecture series on early Kannada Jain literary traditions. The grant enabled structured documentation and public dissemination of scholarly material through audio-visual media.
  3. Grant for Renovation of a Heritage Temple near Pune
    Financial support provided towards conservation and repair work at a heritage Śiva temple near Pune. The grant assisted basic structural repairs and heritage-sensitive restoration measures.
  4. Grant to the Lonavala Yoga Institute
    Support extended to the Lonavala Yoga Institute towards its work on textual research and republication of materials related to the Haṭha Yoga tradition.
